The Louisiana State Arboretum is located six miles north of Ville Platte, LA. The main entrance to the Arboretum is now located inside of Chicot State Park. The Arboretum has 6oo acres and 6 miles of hiking trails with trees and other plants marked along the paths. The J.D. “Prof” Lafleur Nature Center has an exhibit on the Woodlands of Louisiana and offers many nature programs throughout the year. The Caroline Dormon Lodge is still located on HWY 3042 and parking is available to hike from that location. Please take a map, our trails have changed.

To get to the LSA from I-49 take exit 46 (HWY 106) go toward St. Landry. Continue on Hwy 106 until it meets up with Chicot Park Road (Hwy 3042). Turn LEFT onto Hwy 3042 and go 4 milesto the entrance of Chicot State Park. Once inside of Chicot State Park take the first left and then the first left again.

Arboretum Rules: No Fishing, biking, picnicing, or pets on the trails. These activities are all welcome next door in Chicot State Park. Also removing or harming any plants or animals from the Arboretum is prohibited.
